FAQs
Do I (parent/carer) need to stay for the session?
Yes, I think it is important that parents/carers are present during all of your child’s therapy sessions so you feel part of the therapy and can continue practicing activities and strategies with your child everyday. As a parents/carer, you are the most powerful person to support your child’s speech, language and/or communication development as you see them everyday. Multiple studies have shown that children make greater progress when parents and speech and language therapists work collaboratively. It enables you and your child to practice skills and carry them over to everyday environments.
Will you work with other professionals involved with my child?
With your consent, I am happy to liaise with other professionals working with your child, including, education staff, your NHS Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Audiologist, Paediatrician, Educational Psychologist, Neurologist etc. I believe it is important that professionals working with your child, work together where possible, to ensure your child is supported in the most holistic way and to maximise the effectiveness of therapy for your child.
Can I cancel a session?
If you need to cancel a session, please give as much notice as possible and we can rearrange your session. If you cancel within 24 hours, you will be charged 50% of the session cost.
When do I pay?
Payment for assessment and individual therapy sessions will be required at the session. Block therapy payments will be requested at the first session of the block. Fees for any additional reports or meetings will be agreed in advance. Sessions can be paid for by bank transfer and an invoice can be provided.
How many sessions will my child need?
Every child is different and the number of sessions needed will depend on your child’s needs. Following on from the assessment session, we can discuss the number of sessions needed and this will be reviewed on a regular basis.
How is my child’s confidential information kept safely?
All information collected during assessment, therapy sessions and communication with you is securely stored in compliance with data protection regulations, such as GDPR. I store data in an encrypted folder within my personal password protected laptop. Access to your child’s information is strictly limited to me only. Your child’s details are not shared with third parties without your explicit parental consent.
